Academics

This page is dedicated to the academics of the Zeta Pi chapter of Sigma Nu. At the end of the day, the reason you or your son is here is for school. We take great pride in our achievements and high standards when it comes to our academics. Click here for more information on Sigma Nu's academic policies and requirements for membership.

Major Diversity

The Zeta Pi Chapter of Sigma Nu prides itself on its diverse academic backgrounds, with members pursuing a wide range of majors that span business, engineering, kinesiology, pre-med, agriculture management, and more. This variety reflects a chapter rich in perspectives, as each member follows a unique academic path tailored to their career goals. This diversity strengthens the fraternity's collective knowledge. It fosters a supportive environment where members can share insights from their respective fields, preparing each other for success in a broad spectrum of professional arenas. By embracing such an array of academic pursuits, Sigma Nu ensures that every member has a distinct path toward their future career, contributing to a vibrant, multidimensional brotherhood.

GPA & Academic Improvement

The Zeta Pi Chapter of Sigma Nu has shown remarkable progress in academic performance over the past decade, reaching new heights in grade point averages for active and new members, scholarships presented, and professional involvement from the brothers. The chapter boasts a 3.04 GPA average among 114 active members and a 2.9 average for new members in the Spring 2024 semester, a number that has been steadily improving each semester and that places the Chapter in the upper echelon of active fraternities at Texas Tech. These academic achievements underscore Sigma Nu members' dedication and hard work, reflecting a strong commitment to educational excellence within the fraternity.

Mortar Board

Over one-fourth of Sigma Nu's active members have been recognized by Texas Tech University and the Interfraternity Council for their outstanding academic achievements. Among this top-performing group, two notable members of this calendar year's executive board, Lucas Bratton (Vice President) and Jake Bonanno (Chaplain), were selected for Texas Tech's Mortar Board, a prestigious honor recognizing the university's most accomplished scholars. Their selection highlights the caliber of students within Sigma Nu and the fraternity's dedication to fostering an environment that promotes academic success.

Scholarship Recipients

In addition to formal recognitions, scholarships are awarded to the Sigma Nu brothers, who exemplify academic excellence and embody the values of professionalism, hard work, and the ability to represent something bigger than themselves. This past October, several distinguished brothers, including Lucas Bratton, Jake Bonanno, Brock Harrington, Grant Schneider, James Sledge, Bax Townsend, and Ryan Vaughn, were honored with scholarships from Sigma Nu Alumni. These awards not only celebrate their academic accomplishments but also acknowledge their commitment to upholding the ideals of Sigma Nu as exemplary members within the brotherhood and beyond.
