The Zeta Pi Chapter
The Zeta Pi Chapter at Texas Tech was one of the original eight Texas Tech fraternities. Sigma Nu was originally called "Socii" and was established at Texas Tech in 1937. Our chapter applied for charter on May 15, 1953 and was officially chartered on May 16, 1953, with the first three Zeta Pi initiates, Monroe Sawyer, Dr. Raymond Mires, and James Bass. The Sigma Nu lodge at Texas Tech is one of the original eight and still stands strong today on what is currently called "Greek Circle". Brothers of the Zeta Pi chapter included Congressmen, Ambassadors, University Presidents, and Mayors. Hundreds of brothers have gone on to own their own companies and continue to be pioneers of the workforce. Additionally, we have brothers in every branch of the U.S Military.
